Roseau North By-Election · Dominica Labour Party
Entrepreneur. Economist. Educator. Youth advocate. With roots that run deep in Roseau North — and ready to serve it.
Who she is
With roots that run deep in Roseau North, Ashma McDougall's dedication to public service did not blossom overnight. She is an entrepreneur, economist, educator and youth advocate — and she believes the hour has come when these skills are most needed.
She has always been at the forefront of community engagement. Having mentored many children, she sees it as her duty to ensure the constituency retains its best and brightest minds by maximising the growth potential within it.
That commitment is inherited. Her late grandmother, Vena McDougall, was a pillar of the community, a shining example of female entrepreneurship and a stalwart of the Dominica Labour Party who devoted her life to creating opportunities for others. Her father, Philip McDougall — known to many as “Caway” — distinguished himself through leadership in business and quiet philanthropy. Her maternal grandmother, Lucie Darroux, known as “Ma DeeDee,” inspired many to rise above their circumstances. Together they taught her that true leadership is measured by its impact on people's lives.
Even while honouring that legacy, she brings her own vision, experience and approach to the challenges facing the constituency — and she is ready to offer the proactive leadership that ensures Roseau North does not merely navigate these changing times, but actively thrives in them.
Roseau North needs a representative that is nimble, creative, and forward-looking.Ashma C. McDougall
Her platform
Roseau North is a critical economic gateway to our capital, housing vital national assets like our deep-water harbour and the Dominica State College. Transforming that ecosystem takes a self-motivated leader on the ground who can deliver results, show true empathy, and inspire genuine hope.
Re-engineering the entrepreneurial ecosystem so that Roseau North's growing business community creates jobs, opportunity and ownership for constituents — with young entrepreneurs mentored and supported to succeed.
Uplifting every neighbourhood with solutions designed with residents, not handed down to them, and community spaces transformed to improve livelihoods and capture new tourism opportunities from the thousands of visitors arriving each season.
Ensuring young people are genuine participants in the decisions that shape their future — because the future is being decided now, and youth must be at the table.
Serving every constituent regardless of political affiliation, age, gender or creed — because meaningful change requires all hands.
Endorsement
I am sincerely proud to endorse Ashma McDougall as the Dominica Labour Party's candidate in this upcoming election. She brings a brilliant mind, and a private-sector perspective. Above all, she is refreshingly unafraid to roll up her sleeves and put in the work needed to find solutions for the challenges facing our people.Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit · Prime Minister of Dominica

Make it count
A by-election is won by the side that actually turns up. Here is how to be ready.
Confirm your name is on the register of voters for Roseau North, and that your details are current. If you've moved within the constituency, check again — don't assume.
Your station is set by where you're registered, not where you live today. Find yours before the morning of the poll so you're not searching on the day.
Carry your voter ID card. In the booth, mark a single X in the box beside your candidate — nothing more. Extra marks can spoil the ballot.
Get involved
Canvassing, driving on polling day, checking on a neighbour's registration, hosting a meeting in your yard — every bit of it counts. Tell us what you can do.
